Labour of Love
13 positions on invisible labour, gender power and societal equality
Feb 27 – Mar 14, 2026 at roam projects, Lindenstr. 91, 10969 Berlin

Curated by Bettina Semmer, supported by the roam Team

The exhibition includes works by 13 female* artists who address questions of art production and the everyday. Modes of labour historically coded as “women’s work” are examined not only in terms of their ambivalence between fulfillment and hardship, but also with regard to strategies for improving working conditions through networking, research, and political engagement. Central to the exhibition is the dissolution of established separations: between male and female, large and small, public and private, visible and overlooked. By focusing on the inconspicuous, the works reveal forms of presence and awareness that often remain unnoticed.

Curated by Bettina Semmer, the exhibition symbolically opens on Equal Pay Day and addresses the tension between artistic production and everyday care work.

The accompanying program expands on these themes, including a panel talk on March 7 and a children’s painting workshop on March 14.

Artists: Solweig de Barry, Elisa Jule Braun, Paula Breuer, Roberta Cotterli, Josephine Hans, Maria Kallau, Sarah Loibl, Toni Mauersberg, Anna Nezhnaya, Sophia Novosel, Yurika Saito, Marta Vovk, Cora Wöllenstein
