LUKE VELTEN: KURZE HOSE MIT KAPUTZE

LUKE VELTEN: KURZE HOSE MIT KAPUTZE

The exhibition KURZE HOSE MIT KAPUTZE is Luke Velten’s second solo show in Berlin, following EINMAL UM DIE WELT MIT SKATEBOARD (Galerie König, St. Agnes Café 2017).

On the occasion of his 18th birthday, the young artist presents new figurative works on canvas, paper, T-shirts, and a photo series consisting of laminated pieces created specifically for this exhibition.

In search of the new and the unfinished, Luke Velten explores how feelings and touch, with their different qualities, change form and meaning when they encounter one another. In this way, his exhibition writes unexpected, boundless, and imaginative stories, questioning and expanding our understanding of the world.
His artistic practice is marked by a playful optimism and resists traditional categories, blending elements of Art Brut with a contemporary urban aesthetic.

Velten’s creations, known for their bold and unfiltered expression, reflect the raw energy of Art Brut while incorporating playful contemporary twists. His unique perspective on when a work is “finished” demonstrates his ambition to push artistic boundaries.

His design “LAKOZT” for the Berlin-based editions start-up WORKS ON SKIN is among the company’s best-selling motifs and has already been realized on skin: https://worksonskin.com/products/luke-velten. This makes Luke Velten undoubtedly an artist to watch in the coming years.

The exhibition KURZE HOSE MIT KAPUTZE runs from October 9 to October 11, 2025 at the project space roam, Lindenstraße 91, 10969 Berlin.
Proceeds from sales will partially support the promotion of creative work by and with people with special needs.
